From Delta, British Columbia, Eileen, Kathleen and John Higgins grew up in a large
family singing in local musicals and school choirs. It was there that they found
their passion in life — music. With the influence of Fleetwood Mac, the Dixie Chicks,
The Corrs and James Taylor, The Higgins have developed their own sound that is intimate
and unmistakably unique.
The Higgins' first public appearances were at St. Patrick's Day events in and around
Vancouver, B.C. As those close to them became aware of their obvious talent, the
group played more and more for family and friends, at local events, and at music
festivals. However, in 1998, tragedy struck. In a workplace accident, John suffered
a spinal cord injury confining him to a wheelchair for almost a year. During his
recovery, John discovered a love for the guitar. It became obvious he had a natural
talent for the instrument. It was his struggle that was the inspiration for the
group to pursue a career in music. The rest they say, is history...
